WhatsApp is one of the most common messages app in the world with over 1 billion active users currently. This great communications app is packed a range of great features besides the boring text conversations, is popular that even Apple had to bring it on its iOS 10 version, having many of the same features in iMessage app. However, WhatsApp isn’t happy to hold either, as en evidence by a stellar new feature has just been introduced.
So what’s this new feature? The answer is the picture-in-picture mode that allows you to use your phone during your video calls. You can now continue your video call in a minimized screen while still browsing through the rest of your conversation. While it’s not a massive changer, it’s still a pretty great addition. However, this feature is only available in WhatsApp beta version, and only support for devices pre-installed the Android O Dev Preview. That means there is only a number of users can get the feature right now.

The reason explains why the Android O Dev Preview is compatible with the feature coming from a new API included in Android O, which means that the majority of us is not able to use this feature this time. After the Android O is rolled out officially in the near future, the picture-in-picture mode will make its way to the official version version of WhatsApp, though it will likely require Android O or higher to work.
If your supported Android phone is running on the Android O Dev Preview, you could be able to use this feature now. You should remember that the feature is still in the beta stage and on a dev version, so when it comes to how well the feature works, you’ll see the variety. Those who have already given it a try, share your thoughts with us in the comments.
